The Image: Heaven and earth unite: peace. The ruler completes the way of heaven and earth and helps the people.

Auspicious

“Pulling up reeds, the roots come up together with their cluster; going forward brings good fortune.”

Neutral

“Bearing with the unrefined; fording a river with no fear; not neglecting what is far off; losing partisans. One finds the middle way.”

Be generous, brave and fair-minded. Let go of cliques and take the middle path.

Line 3 · 九三

No blame

“No plain without a slope, no going without a return. Perseverance in hardship brings no blame. Don’t worry about the sincerity; there is blessing in the food.”

Good times don’t last forever, so stay steady. Enjoy the blessings you have.

Line 4 · 六四

Neutral

“Fluttering, not rich yet with the neighbors, they come without being warned, in sincerity.”

Humble people come together naturally. You don’t need to impress anyone.

Very auspicious

“The emperor gives his daughter in marriage; there is blessing and supreme good fortune.”

A powerful person lowers themselves to build a bond. Humility on high is lucky.

Caution

“The wall falls back into the moat; do not use the army. Orders go out from your own town; persistence brings regret.”

Peace is ending. Don’t fight it; hold close to home and brace yourself.
