Literary Star Wen Chang

The star of study and writing

What is the Literary Star in BaZi?

Symbolic Stars (shen sha) are extra markers read from particular combinations of characters in a Saju (Four Pillars, BaZi) chart. They describe inborn leanings rather than fixed fate, and schools differ on which stars to use. FateHive uses the nine most widely used.

A lucky star that means intelligence, academic achievement, writing ability and exam luck. You learn quickly and are good at expressing yourself in writing and speech, with the power to grow through qualifications and study. You have deep ties to scholarship, research, documents, writing and education.

How is the Literary Star found?

Look at your Day Master. Each Day Master points to one branch; if it appears in any pillar of your chart, the star is there.

  • Jia Wood Day Master: Snake (Si)
  • Yi Wood Day Master: Horse (Wu)
  • Bing Fire Day Master: Monkey (Shen)
  • Ding Fire Day Master: Rooster (You)
  • Wu Earth Day Master: Monkey (Shen)
  • Ji Earth Day Master: Rooster (You)
  • Geng Metal Day Master: Pig (Hai)
  • Xin Metal Day Master: Rat (Zi)
  • Ren Water Day Master: Tiger (Yin)
  • Gui Water Day Master: Rabbit (Mao)

Literary Star in each pillar of your chart

  • Year Pillar (childhood and family influence): you were bright from childhood and loved to learn.
  • Month Pillar (social life and career): achievements in study, exams and documents become a big weapon in your working life.
  • Day Pillar (you and your spouse relationship): your innate feel for language and writing is good and you convey charm through writing or speech.
  • Hour Pillar (later life and children): you may shine late through scholarship or writing, or your children are strong in their studies.

Symbolic Star readings are simplified interpretations following common Saju practice and differ between schools. They are for entertainment and self-reflection.
