Ren Chen Day Pillar 壬辰

What does the Ren Chen Day Pillar mean?
The Day Pillar is the two characters of the day you were born: a Heavenly Stem on top (your Day Master, the “you” of a Saju chart) and an Earthly Branch below (your inner self and spouse palace). In Ren Chen (壬辰), the Day Master is Ren Water (a great river flowing to the sea) sitting on the Dragon branch, whose element is Earth.
You sit on the earth that governs you (Seven Killings), with large scale and ambition. Changeable and versatile, you grow greatly under responsibility and pressure.
Ren Chen personality: the Ren Water Day Master
Ren Water holds everything and flows on like a big river or sea, with great breadth and scale. Your thinking is wide, you are open to new ideas, and you move flexibly toward big goals. You have room for many kinds of people. Your energy scatters easily, so a habit of setting priorities helps.
What makes Ren Chen different from the other five Ren Water Day Pillars is the branch it sits on, covered below.
The Dragon seat: your inner self
With Chen beneath your Day Master, you hold many talents and ambitions inside. Various energies mix in your spouse seat, so you tend to meet strong-minded, capable partners. A push and pull over who leads can arise, but if you respect each other’s territory you become a solid team.
Ren Chen in love and marriage
The energy of strong charisma (Seven Killings) sits in your spouse seat, so you are drawn to driven, tough partners. There may be tension and conflict, but it can be a relationship that helps each other grow.
Ren Water loves broadly and freely like the sea. You are understanding and accept your partner as they are, but your depths are hard to fully know. You dislike restriction, so respecting each other’s freedom matters.
Seven Killings here means: Seven Killings (Pian Guan) stands for strong drive and a spirit of challenge, and sometimes for pressure and trials too. You have a competitor’s nature that shows true worth in a crisis and often stand out in seats with heavy responsibility. You can often be in situations of stress and burden, so it helps to prepare your own way of releasing tension in body and mind.
Energy and life stage
Tomb (Mu): the energy of storing and putting away. Strong in gathering, whether wealth or thoughts, and deep inside.
Hidden inside the Dragon branch: Yi (Wood, 9 days), Gui (Water, 3 days), Wu (Earth, 18 days). These quieter energies show up in private, under stress or later in life.
Health tendencies of Water Day Masters
Areas to look after: kidneys, bladder, reproductive organs, ears, bones and lower back.
Too much Water energy can cause swelling or chills, and thoughts chaining on may deepen low mood. Exercise that makes you sweat, sunlight and turning thoughts into action with a to-do list help.
Too little Water energy brings dryness and fatigue that doesn’t recover, and the lower back, knees and ears may weaken. Drink water often, sleep enough and build lower-body strength.
Ren Chen compatibility
- Six Harmony: the Dragon pairs with the Rooster. People with a Rooster Day Branch often feel an easy pull toward you.
- Three Harmony: the Rat · Dragon · Monkey form a Water team, so those animals tend to bring out your best.
- Clash: the Dragon clashes with the Dog. It is not doom, only a spot where friction and change come easily.
- Perfect match on stem and branch: Ding You (丁酉) combines with Ren Chen on both the stem and the branch.
- Opposite pillar (most friction): Wu Xu (戊戌): its stem is Seven Killings to you and its branch clashes with yours.
