What does the Ren Wu Day Pillar mean?

The Day Pillar is the two characters of the day you were born: a Heavenly Stem on top (your Day Master, the “you” of a Saju chart) and an Earthly Branch below (your inner self and spouse palace). In Ren Wu (壬午), the Day Master is Ren Water (a great river flowing to the sea) sitting on the Horse branch, whose element is Fire.

You sit on the fire of wealth (Direct Wealth), with a good sense of reality and charm. Rational and sociable, but water meeting fire means you need to manage mood swings.

Ren Wu personality: the Ren Water Day Master

Ren Water holds everything and flows on like a big river or sea, with great breadth and scale. Your thinking is wide, you are open to new ideas, and you move flexibly toward big goals. You have room for many kinds of people. Your energy scatters easily, so a habit of setting priorities helps.

What makes Ren Wu different from the other five Ren Water Day Pillars is the branch it sits on, covered below.

The Horse seat: your inner self

With Wu beneath your Day Master, you are frank in expressing feelings and hot in love. There is the energy of the sun in your spouse seat, so you tend to meet bright, showy partners. The key is to manage the everyday temperature so that a flame that starts hot doesn’t cool quickly.

Ren Wu in love and marriage

The energy of stable wealth (Direct Wealth) sits in your spouse seat, so diligent, thrifty partners tend to come. You are strong at building a realistic home together.

Ren Water loves broadly and freely like the sea. You are understanding and accept your partner as they are, but your depths are hard to fully know. You dislike restriction, so respecting each other’s freedom matters.

Direct Wealth here means: Direct Wealth (Zheng Cai) stands for steadily accumulating, stable wealth and diligence. You are the type to produce results through solid effort step by step, with strengths in saving and planned spending. You show your ability especially well in trust-based relationships and stable work environments, with a flow in which steadiness, more than a big win, bears fruit.

Energy and life stage

Conception (Tai): the energy of a new life conceived. A time of preparing and holding something, with potential that is growing.

Hidden inside the Horse branch: Bing (Fire, 10 days), Ji (Earth, 9 days), Ding (Fire, 11 days). These quieter energies show up in private, under stress or later in life.

Health tendencies of Water Day Masters

Areas to look after: kidneys, bladder, reproductive organs, ears, bones and lower back.

Too much Water energy can cause swelling or chills, and thoughts chaining on may deepen low mood. Exercise that makes you sweat, sunlight and turning thoughts into action with a to-do list help.

Too little Water energy brings dryness and fatigue that doesn’t recover, and the lower back, knees and ears may weaken. Drink water often, sleep enough and build lower-body strength.

Ren Wu compatibility

  • Six Harmony: the Horse pairs with the Goat. People with a Goat Day Branch often feel an easy pull toward you.
  • Three Harmony: the Tiger · Horse · Dog form a Fire team, so those animals tend to bring out your best.
  • Clash: the Horse clashes with the Rat. It is not doom, only a spot where friction and change come easily.
  • Perfect match on stem and branch: Ding Wei (丁未) combines with Ren Wu on both the stem and the branch.
  • Opposite pillar (most friction): Wu Zi (戊子): its stem is Seven Killings to you and its branch clashes with yours.

How do I find my Day Pillar?

Your Day Pillar depends on your birth date, not your birth year. Enter your date of birth in the Day Pillar finder or get a complete chart with the free Saju calculator, which also gives your Day Master strength, Useful God and Luck Cycles.
