Wu Zi Day Pillar 戊子
A great mountain holding water
What does the Wu Zi Day Pillar mean?
The Day Pillar is the two characters of the day you were born: a Heavenly Stem on top (your Day Master, the “you” of a Saju chart) and an Earthly Branch below (your inner self and spouse palace). In Wu Zi (戊子), the Day Master is Wu Earth (a large, steady mountain) sitting on the Rat branch, whose element is Water.
You sit on the water of wealth (Direct Wealth), with practicality and trustworthiness as strengths. Weighty outside and clever inside, you read the flow of money well and build wealth through diligent effort.
Wu Zi personality: the Wu Earth Day Master
Wu Earth carries the weight of a big, sturdy mountain. You are steady and not easily shaken, and people feel they can lean on you. Diligent and responsible, you see things through to the end and have a good eye for the big picture. You may be slow to adapt to change, so practice flexibility when it is needed.
What makes Wu Zi different from the other five Wu Earth Day Pillars is the branch it sits on, covered below.
The Rat seat: your inner self
With Zi beneath your Day Master, you are deeper inside than you seem, and clever. There is Water energy in your spouse seat, so you are easily drawn to people who are intelligent, emotional and quick to sense. If you don’t show your inner feelings to each other, misunderstandings build, so a habit of confirming feelings in words makes the relationship last.
Wu Zi in love and marriage
The energy of stable wealth (Direct Wealth) sits in your spouse seat, so diligent, thrifty partners tend to come. You are strong at building a realistic home together.
Wu Earth loves heavily and reliably like a mountain. Once you decide, you don’t waver and take responsibility like family. You can be clumsy at expression and seem reserved, so remembering anniversaries and saying kind words out loud helps.
Direct Wealth here means: Direct Wealth (Zheng Cai) stands for steadily accumulating, stable wealth and diligence. You are the type to produce results through solid effort step by step, with strengths in saving and planned spending. You show your ability especially well in trust-based relationships and stable work environments, with a flow in which steadiness, more than a big win, bears fruit.
Energy and life stage
Conception (Tai): the energy of a new life conceived. A time of preparing and holding something, with potential that is growing.
Hidden inside the Rat branch: Ren (Water, 10 days), Gui (Water, 20 days). These quieter energies show up in private, under stress or later in life.
Health tendencies of Earth Day Masters
Areas to look after: spleen, stomach, digestion, lips and skin.
Too much Earth energy makes the body heavy, digestion slow and worries many. Eating less and a light walk after meals to help circulation work well.
Too little Earth energy means a weak stomach and irregular meals. Warm meals at set times are the basis of your condition.
Wu Zi compatibility
- Six Harmony: the Rat pairs with the Ox. People with a Ox Day Branch often feel an easy pull toward you.
- Three Harmony: the Rat · Dragon · Monkey form a Water team, so those animals tend to bring out your best.
- Clash: the Rat clashes with the Horse. It is not doom, only a spot where friction and change come easily.
- Perfect match on stem and branch: Gui Chou (癸丑) combines with Wu Zi on both the stem and the branch.
- Opposite pillar (most friction): Jia Wu (甲午): its stem is Seven Killings to you and its branch clashes with yours.
