Ji Chou Day Pillar 己丑

What does the Ji Chou Day Pillar mean?
The Day Pillar is the two characters of the day you were born: a Heavenly Stem on top (your Day Master, the “you” of a Saju chart) and an Earthly Branch below (your inner self and spouse palace). In Ji Chou (己丑), the Day Master is Ji Earth (fertile farmland that grows crops) sitting on the Ox branch, whose element is Earth.
You sit on your own roots, a Day Pillar of patience, thrift and perseverance. You build quietly and give trust, but your clumsy expression can be misunderstood, so try saying what is in your heart.
Ji Chou personality: the Ji Earth Day Master
Ji Earth is like rich farmland that grows crops, combining generosity with practicality. You value real results over show, and your strengths are careful, realistic judgment. A natural caretaker, you often take on important roles in organizations and at home. You are strict with yourself, so make time to rest and look after yourself.
What makes Ji Chou different from the other five Ji Earth Day Pillars is the branch it sits on, covered below.
The Ox seat: your inner self
With Chou beneath your Day Master, you are weighty inside and strongly responsible. There is the energy of the earth in your spouse seat, so you tend to meet diligent, dependable partners. Even if your expression is clumsy, the longer it goes the deeper the relationship becomes. Remember that an occasional corny show of affection is a gift too.
Ji Chou in love and marriage
The Friend energy, like you, sits in your spouse seat, so you feel comfortable in an equal, friend-like relationship. You understand each other because you are equals, but a tug-of-war over who leads can arise.
Ji Earth loves warmly and attentively, like a field that feeds. You find meaning in caring for and supporting your partner, but tend to put your own needs last and get tired. Remember that you deserve to receive as much as you give.
Friend here means: Friend (Bi Jian) stands for an equal: a colleague, sibling or rival. Strongly independent, you have a clear will to do things yourself rather than lean on others, and with a definite point of view you are not easily shaken. You create synergy when you meet colleagues to work with, but you may be called stubborn, so respecting the other person’s opinion helps in collaboration.
Energy and life stage
Tomb (Mu): the energy of storing and putting away. Strong in gathering, whether wealth or thoughts, and deep inside.
Hidden inside the Ox branch: Gui (Water, 9 days), Xin (Metal, 3 days), Ji (Earth, 18 days). These quieter energies show up in private, under stress or later in life.
Health tendencies of Earth Day Masters
Areas to look after: spleen, stomach, digestion, lips and skin.
Too much Earth energy makes the body heavy, digestion slow and worries many. Eating less and a light walk after meals to help circulation work well.
Too little Earth energy means a weak stomach and irregular meals. Warm meals at set times are the basis of your condition.
Ji Chou compatibility
- Six Harmony: the Ox pairs with the Rat. People with a Rat Day Branch often feel an easy pull toward you.
- Three Harmony: the Ox · Rooster · Snake form a Metal team, so those animals tend to bring out your best.
- Clash: the Ox clashes with the Goat. It is not doom, only a spot where friction and change come easily.
- Perfect match on stem and branch: Jia Zi (甲子) combines with Ji Chou on both the stem and the branch.
- Opposite pillar (most friction): Yi Wei (乙未): its stem is Seven Killings to you and its branch clashes with yours.
