What does the Yi Wei Day Pillar mean?

The Day Pillar is the two characters of the day you were born: a Heavenly Stem on top (your Day Master, the “you” of a Saju chart) and an Earthly Branch below (your inner self and spouse palace). In Yi Wei (乙未), the Day Master is Yi Wood (flexible grass and climbing vines) sitting on the Goat branch, whose element is Earth.

You sit on earth of wealth (Indirect Wealth), warm-hearted and full of vitality. You seem gentle but are stubborn, and look after those close to you attentively while sometimes failing to look after yourself.

Yi Wei personality: the Yi Wood Day Master

Yi Wood has the flexibility of grass and vines that sway in the wind without breaking. You adapt well to circumstances, and behind the soft exterior lies strong persistence. You are skilled with people, quick to read the mood and attentive to detail. You may look indecisive, so practice stating a clear opinion at the moments that matter.

What makes Yi Wei different from the other five Yi Wood Day Pillars is the branch it sits on, covered below.

The Goat seat: your inner self

With Wei beneath your Day Master, you are tender-hearted, affectionate and quietly stubborn. There is warm earth energy in your spouse seat, so you have deep ties with generous, caring people. The wish to be understood without speaking is the seed of hurt, so put what you need into words.

Yi Wei in love and marriage

The energy of active wealth (Indirect Wealth) sits in your spouse seat, so you tend to meet sociable, generous partners. With so much charm and freedom, you need to build stability through trust and communication.

Yi Wood is gentle and quick to notice, reading your partner’s heart with care. Good at matching the mood and being considerate, but if you swallow what you want to say, hurt builds up and you may suddenly close the door. Say small things early.

Indirect Wealth here means: Indirect Wealth (Pian Cai) stands for money that flows in and out and for business skill. You have a good sense for spotting opportunity and a big appetite, so you are good at moving large sums, and you have the knack of turning a network of people into wealth. Spending can grow just as large, so planned management lets you grow your money luck more steadily.

Energy and life stage

Nurture (Yang): the energy of growing while being cared for. Protection and support come easily, and your skill grows gradually.

Hidden inside the Goat branch: Ding (Fire, 9 days), Yi (Wood, 3 days), Ji (Earth, 18 days). These quieter energies show up in private, under stress or later in life.

Health tendencies of Wood Day Masters

Areas to look after: liver, gallbladder, eyes, muscles and nerves.

Too much Wood energy makes irritation and anger rise easily, and you may often get headaches, a stiff neck and shoulders, and tired eyes. Rather than reaching for alcohol to dampen anger, work it off with walking and stretching.

Too little Wood energy can leave muscles and ligaments stiff, eyes tired and motivation low. Top up the energy of growth with green vegetables, regular stretching and morning sunlight.

Yi Wei compatibility

  • Six Harmony: the Goat pairs with the Horse. People with a Horse Day Branch often feel an easy pull toward you.
  • Three Harmony: the Rabbit · Goat · Pig form a Wood team, so those animals tend to bring out your best.
  • Clash: the Goat clashes with the Ox. It is not doom, only a spot where friction and change come easily.
  • Perfect match on stem and branch: Geng Wu (庚午) combines with Yi Wei on both the stem and the branch.
  • Opposite pillar (most friction): Xin Chou (辛丑): its stem is Seven Killings to you and its branch clashes with yours.
