What does the Yi Mao Day Pillar mean?
The Day Pillar is the two characters of the day you were born: a Heavenly Stem on top (your Day Master, the “you” of a Saju chart) and an Earthly Branch below (your inner self and spouse palace). In Yi Mao (乙卯), the Day Master is Yi Wood (flexible grass and climbing vines) sitting on the Rabbit branch, whose element is Wood.
You stand on your own roots (Prosperity), flexible yet firm in your own world. You have good senses and aesthetic taste and put people at ease, but you hold on to hurt for a long time, so practice expressing it.
Yi Mao personality: the Yi Wood Day Master
Yi Wood has the flexibility of grass and vines that sway in the wind without breaking. You adapt well to circumstances, and behind the soft exterior lies strong persistence. You are skilled with people, quick to read the mood and attentive to detail. You may look indecisive, so practice stating a clear opinion at the moments that matter.
What makes Yi Mao different from the other five Yi Wood Day Pillars is the branch it sits on, covered below.
The Rabbit seat: your inner self
With Mao beneath your Day Master, you are delicate and sensory and value atmosphere in relationships. There is soft energy in your spouse seat, so you are drawn to kind, tasteful people. You notice even small changes in your partner and feel hurt as easily, so if you wonder about something, don’t hold it in but ask.
Yi Mao in love and marriage
The Friend energy, like you, sits in your spouse seat, so you feel comfortable in an equal, friend-like relationship. You understand each other because you are equals, but a tug-of-war over who leads can arise.
Yi Wood is gentle and quick to notice, reading your partner’s heart with care. Good at matching the mood and being considerate, but if you swallow what you want to say, hurt builds up and you may suddenly close the door. Say small things early.
Friend here means: Friend (Bi Jian) stands for an equal: a colleague, sibling or rival. Strongly independent, you have a clear will to do things yourself rather than lean on others, and with a definite point of view you are not easily shaken. You create synergy when you meet colleagues to work with, but you may be called stubborn, so respecting the other person’s opinion helps in collaboration.
Energy and life stage
Prosperity (Jian Lu): a stable energy of standing on your own strength. Good independence and drive, with a strong power to earn and stand by yourself.
Hidden inside the Rabbit branch: Jia (Wood, 10 days), Yi (Wood, 20 days). These quieter energies show up in private, under stress or later in life.
Health tendencies of Wood Day Masters
Areas to look after: liver, gallbladder, eyes, muscles and nerves.
Too much Wood energy makes irritation and anger rise easily, and you may often get headaches, a stiff neck and shoulders, and tired eyes. Rather than reaching for alcohol to dampen anger, work it off with walking and stretching.
Too little Wood energy can leave muscles and ligaments stiff, eyes tired and motivation low. Top up the energy of growth with green vegetables, regular stretching and morning sunlight.
Yi Mao compatibility
- Six Harmony: the Rabbit pairs with the Dog. People with a Dog Day Branch often feel an easy pull toward you.
- Three Harmony: the Rabbit · Goat · Pig form a Wood team, so those animals tend to bring out your best.
- Clash: the Rabbit clashes with the Rooster. It is not doom, only a spot where friction and change come easily.
- Perfect match on stem and branch: Geng Xu (庚戌) combines with Yi Mao on both the stem and the branch.
- Opposite pillar (most friction): Xin You (辛酉): its stem is Seven Killings to you and its branch clashes with yours.
