Bing Chen Day Pillar 丙辰

The Day Pillar is the two characters of the day you were born: a Heavenly Stem on top (your Day Master, the “you” of a Saju chart) and an Earthly Branch below (your inner self and spouse palace). In Bing Chen (丙辰), the Day Master is Bing Fire (the sun lighting the whole world) sitting on the Dragon branch, whose element is Earth.

You sit on the earth of expression (Eating God), optimistic with varied talents. Big in scale and attractive to people, but be careful that dabbling in many things doesn’t weaken your finishing.

Bing Fire is bright and active like the sun lighting the whole world. You are expressive, enjoy being in front of people, and bring energy to those around you. Your frank, open nature means you hold no grudges, but your mood swings show, so a little prudence helps. Add staying power to your passion and you can truly shine.

What makes Bing Chen different from the other five Bing Fire Day Pillars is the branch it sits on, covered below.

With Chen beneath your Day Master, you hold many talents and ambitions inside. Various energies mix in your spouse seat, so you tend to meet strong-minded, capable partners. A push and pull over who leads can arise, but if you respect each other’s territory you become a solid team.

The energy of ease and expression (Eating God) sits in your spouse seat, so you tend to meet warm, easygoing partners. Everyday life of eating and enjoying things together becomes the vitality of the relationship.

Bing Fire loves brightly and warmly like sunlight. You are honest and generous with affection, and quickly make your partner happy. Feelings can run ahead, so you may rush in or cool off fast; consistency is the lesson.

Eating God here means: Eating God (Shi Shen) stands for ease, expression and the power to use talent naturally. Many people with it have a smooth flow without big trouble in making a living, and it is the energy often seen in people who work happily using a hobby or specialty. A relaxed, optimistic nature puts people at ease, but you need the balance of keeping yourself in check so ease doesn’t turn into laziness.

Capping (Guan Dai): the energy of coming of age and stepping into society. Full of spirit and confidence, with a strong wish to be recognized.

Hidden inside the Dragon branch: Yi (Wood, 9 days), Gui (Water, 3 days), Wu (Earth, 18 days). These quieter energies show up in private, under stress or later in life.

Areas to look after: heart, small intestine, blood vessels, blood pressure and tongue.

Too much Fire energy sends heat upward, with insomnia, palpitations, higher blood pressure and a hasty temper standing out. Cut caffeine, late-night eating and spicy food, and try breathing meditation before sleep.

Too little Fire energy leaves the body cold and circulation slow, and enthusiasm cools easily. Raise your body’s temperature with warm food, aerobic exercise and walks in the sun.

• Six Harmony: the Dragon pairs with the Rooster. People with a Rooster Day Branch often feel an easy pull toward you.
• Three Harmony: the Rat · Dragon · Monkey form a Water team, so those animals tend to bring out your best.
• Clash: the Dragon clashes with the Dog. It is not doom, only a spot where friction and change come easily.
• Perfect match on stem and branch: Xin You (辛酉) combines with Bing Chen on both the stem and the branch.
• Opposite pillar (most friction): Ren Xu (壬戌): its stem is Seven Killings to you and its branch clashes with yours.
