Bing Wu Day Pillar 丙午

The Day Pillar is the two characters of the day you were born: a Heavenly Stem on top (your Day Master, the “you” of a Saju chart) and an Earthly Branch below (your inner self and spouse palace). In Bing Wu (丙午), the Day Master is Bing Fire (the sun lighting the whole world) sitting on the Horse branch, whose element is Fire.

You sit on your peak (Peak), with energy and self-esteem at the maximum. Straightforward, honest and a strong leader, but hasty and stubborn, so a pause of one beat helps.

Bing Fire is bright and active like the sun lighting the whole world. You are expressive, enjoy being in front of people, and bring energy to those around you. Your frank, open nature means you hold no grudges, but your mood swings show, so a little prudence helps. Add staying power to your passion and you can truly shine.

What makes Bing Wu different from the other five Bing Fire Day Pillars is the branch it sits on, covered below.

With Wu beneath your Day Master, you are frank in expressing feelings and hot in love. There is the energy of the sun in your spouse seat, so you tend to meet bright, showy partners. The key is to manage the everyday temperature so that a flame that starts hot doesn’t cool quickly.

The competitive energy (Rob Wealth) sits in your spouse seat, so strong, competitive partners tend to come. Watch for money matters and pride clashes and it becomes a passionate partnership.

Bing Fire loves brightly and warmly like sunlight. You are honest and generous with affection, and quickly make your partner happy. Feelings can run ahead, so you may rush in or cool off fast; consistency is the lesson.

Rob Wealth here means: Rob Wealth (Jie Cai) is like Friend but a bit more competitive and driven. With a clear competitive streak you have the power to advance without hesitation toward a goal, but in partnerships and money dealings unexpected spending and disputes come easily, so a careful attitude is needed. Used well at the moments that need it, bold decisiveness can lead to big results.

Peak (Di Wang): the height of the energy. Confidence and drive are at their maximum and the leader nature is strong, though too much can become dogmatism.

Hidden inside the Horse branch: Bing (Fire, 10 days), Ji (Earth, 9 days), Ding (Fire, 11 days). These quieter energies show up in private, under stress or later in life.

Areas to look after: heart, small intestine, blood vessels, blood pressure and tongue.

Too much Fire energy sends heat upward, with insomnia, palpitations, higher blood pressure and a hasty temper standing out. Cut caffeine, late-night eating and spicy food, and try breathing meditation before sleep.

Too little Fire energy leaves the body cold and circulation slow, and enthusiasm cools easily. Raise your body’s temperature with warm food, aerobic exercise and walks in the sun.

• Six Harmony: the Horse pairs with the Goat. People with a Goat Day Branch often feel an easy pull toward you.
• Three Harmony: the Tiger · Horse · Dog form a Fire team, so those animals tend to bring out your best.
• Clash: the Horse clashes with the Rat. It is not doom, only a spot where friction and change come easily.
• Perfect match on stem and branch: Xin Wei (辛未) combines with Bing Wu on both the stem and the branch.
• Opposite pillar (most friction): Ren Zi (壬子): its stem is Seven Killings to you and its branch clashes with yours.
