What does the Ji Mao Day Pillar mean?
The Day Pillar is the two characters of the day you were born: a Heavenly Stem on top (your Day Master, the “you” of a Saju chart) and an Earthly Branch below (your inner self and spouse palace). In Ji Mao (己卯), the Day Master is Ji Earth (fertile farmland that grows crops) sitting on the Rabbit branch, whose element is Wood.
You sit on the wood that governs you (Seven Killings), sensitive and quick to read people. Strongly responsible and sensitive to changes of environment, you really need your own way to release stress.
Ji Mao personality: the Ji Earth Day Master
Ji Earth is like rich farmland that grows crops, combining generosity with practicality. You value real results over show, and your strengths are careful, realistic judgment. A natural caretaker, you often take on important roles in organizations and at home. You are strict with yourself, so make time to rest and look after yourself.
What makes Ji Mao different from the other five Ji Earth Day Pillars is the branch it sits on, covered below.
The Rabbit seat: your inner self
With Mao beneath your Day Master, you are delicate and sensory and value atmosphere in relationships. There is soft energy in your spouse seat, so you are drawn to kind, tasteful people. You notice even small changes in your partner and feel hurt as easily, so if you wonder about something, don’t hold it in but ask.
Ji Mao in love and marriage
The energy of strong charisma (Seven Killings) sits in your spouse seat, so you are drawn to driven, tough partners. There may be tension and conflict, but it can be a relationship that helps each other grow.
Ji Earth loves warmly and attentively, like a field that feeds. You find meaning in caring for and supporting your partner, but tend to put your own needs last and get tired. Remember that you deserve to receive as much as you give.
Seven Killings here means: Seven Killings (Pian Guan) stands for strong drive and a spirit of challenge, and sometimes for pressure and trials too. You have a competitor’s nature that shows true worth in a crisis and often stand out in seats with heavy responsibility. You can often be in situations of stress and burden, so it helps to prepare your own way of releasing tension in body and mind.
Energy and life stage
Illness (Bing): an energy where vitality has weakened somewhat. Looking after body and mind matters, but you are delicate and caring for it.
Hidden inside the Rabbit branch: Jia (Wood, 10 days), Yi (Wood, 20 days). These quieter energies show up in private, under stress or later in life.
Health tendencies of Earth Day Masters
Areas to look after: spleen, stomach, digestion, lips and skin.
Too much Earth energy makes the body heavy, digestion slow and worries many. Eating less and a light walk after meals to help circulation work well.
Too little Earth energy means a weak stomach and irregular meals. Warm meals at set times are the basis of your condition.
Ji Mao compatibility
- Six Harmony: the Rabbit pairs with the Dog. People with a Dog Day Branch often feel an easy pull toward you.
- Three Harmony: the Rabbit · Goat · Pig form a Wood team, so those animals tend to bring out your best.
- Clash: the Rabbit clashes with the Rooster. It is not doom, only a spot where friction and change come easily.
- Perfect match on stem and branch: Jia Xu (甲戌) combines with Ji Mao on both the stem and the branch.
- Opposite pillar (most friction): Yi You (乙酉): its stem is Seven Killings to you and its branch clashes with yours.
