What does the Jia Chen Day Pillar mean?

The Day Pillar is the two characters of the day you were born: a Heavenly Stem on top (your Day Master, the “you” of a Saju chart) and an Earthly Branch below (your inner self and spouse palace). In Jia Chen (甲辰), the Day Master is Jia Wood (a tall tree growing straight up) sitting on the Dragon branch, whose element is Earth.

You stand on land of wealth (Indirect Wealth), so your sense of reality and your scale are large. An ambitious person who reaches into many fields, you spot opportunities well but need the habit of tidying up what you have started.

Jia Chen personality: the Jia Wood Day Master

Jia Wood is like a great tree reaching straight toward the sky. You are not afraid to step up and lead, and once you set a goal you push toward it to the end. People often see you as a pillar to lean on, and you draw your energy from starting things and breaking new ground. You can come across as stubborn, so listening a little more to others’ advice leads to bigger growth.

What makes Jia Chen different from the other five Jia Wood Day Pillars is the branch it sits on, covered below.

The Dragon seat: your inner self

With Chen beneath your Day Master, you hold many talents and ambitions inside. Various energies mix in your spouse seat, so you tend to meet strong-minded, capable partners. A push and pull over who leads can arise, but if you respect each other’s territory you become a solid team.

Jia Chen in love and marriage

The energy of active wealth (Indirect Wealth) sits in your spouse seat, so you tend to meet sociable, generous partners. With so much charm and freedom, you need to build stability through trust and communication.

Jia Wood is a dependable, big-tree kind of partner. When you like someone you step forward and protect them, and you take promises and responsibility seriously. Easy to lean on, but if you insist on your own way the other person can feel pressed; listening first keeps the love steady.

Indirect Wealth here means: Indirect Wealth (Pian Cai) stands for money that flows in and out and for business skill. You have a good sense for spotting opportunity and a big appetite, so you are good at moving large sums, and you have the knack of turning a network of people into wealth. Spending can grow just as large, so planned management lets you grow your money luck more steadily.

Energy and life stage

Decline (Shuai): the energy of passing the peak and finding stability. Experienced and calm, with the strength to build substance without overreaching.

Hidden inside the Dragon branch: Yi (Wood, 9 days), Gui (Water, 3 days), Wu (Earth, 18 days). These quieter energies show up in private, under stress or later in life.

Health tendencies of Wood Day Masters

Areas to look after: liver, gallbladder, eyes, muscles and nerves.

Too much Wood energy makes irritation and anger rise easily, and you may often get headaches, a stiff neck and shoulders, and tired eyes. Rather than reaching for alcohol to dampen anger, work it off with walking and stretching.

Too little Wood energy can leave muscles and ligaments stiff, eyes tired and motivation low. Top up the energy of growth with green vegetables, regular stretching and morning sunlight.

Jia Chen compatibility

  • Six Harmony: the Dragon pairs with the Rooster. People with a Rooster Day Branch often feel an easy pull toward you.
  • Three Harmony: the Rat · Dragon · Monkey form a Water team, so those animals tend to bring out your best.
  • Clash: the Dragon clashes with the Dog. It is not doom, only a spot where friction and change come easily.
  • Perfect match on stem and branch: Ji You (己酉) combines with Jia Chen on both the stem and the branch.
  • Opposite pillar (most friction): Geng Xu (庚戌): its stem is Seven Killings to you and its branch clashes with yours.
